Out of all the games which come in out in 2012, Diablo 3 is easily the most anticipated. It is the sequel to Diablo 2, which was one of the most popular computer games ever. However, to simply say it was one of the most popular computer games ever does not do it justice. Diablo 2 was one of the most popular games ever back in 2000, which not only was 10 years ago, but was a time before a computer was a household object and out of those houses which did have computers, many still had dial-up internet and were not equipped for serious gaming.
The result is that Diablo 3 will likely be one of, if not the, most popular computer game of all time when it is released. It will certainly have a ways to go to beat The Sims, but it certainly has a chance. WoW sold over 11 million copies, and Diablo 3 is likely to get at least most WoW players to try it out as well as get a lot of old Diablo 2 players on board.
With a game this intense, you will want a good D3 guide to point out the best strategies to you. One of the most important things you will have to learn is the best builds for each class. Each class can equip six different abilities out of 25, and each ability can be runed with 5 different runestones. Each time you put a runestone on an ability, it has a new effect, so there are really each class will be able to equip 6 of 125 different spells. The odds for the different combinations would be 125 * 120 * 115 * 110 * 105 * 100, or 1,992,375,000,000 for abilities. That is nearly 2 trillion different combinations. I could have done this math wrong but I am fairly certain it is accurate.
I also did not even include the different passive talent combinations available to players. There are 3 different passive talents you can select (out of 10-12 total), which would add further variety to each class.
How do you decide between all these abilities? This is where a great guide would come in. It would ideally have good builds for each character class to use, which can really help you out when it comes down to leveling up multiple characters. Just think if you wanted to level up one character from each class – you would have 2 trillion combinations for each class, meaning you would have to sort through 10 trillion builds!
